Timac Agro Ireland Ltd. produces specialist fertilisers, soil conditioners and foliar sprays based around seaweed sourced ingredients.

Foliar Sprays from Timac Agro

The application of the sprays would mainly be in July and August, at a rate of 2 litres per acre (5L/ha). The two sprays that are most commonly used on Christmas trees are Fertileader Vital and Fertileader Stimgrass. They both contain a Seactive complex but have a different make up of NPK and trace elements. The Seative complex is explained below.

The Seactive complex

This is a patented complex of specific molecules identified in seaweeds that have known plant hormone activities in land plants. They are individually extracted and mixed and it is this process that is patented by the Roulliergroup. The type and amount of the Seactive complex in Stimgrass is the same as for the rest of the Fertileader range. The specific molecules include Glycine betaine , IPA and selected amino acids . The properties Seactive enhances:

•Root development

•Anti ‐ stress (particularly temperature and water related)

•Transport of minerals into and within the plant

•Photosynthetic activity

•Anti ‐ senescence of chlorophyll (delayed yellowing)

In their Eurofertil fertiliser range, all nutrients are carried on a seaweed derived soil conditioner that has neutralising properties, is rich in natural trace elements and benefits production and activity of beneficial soil microbes. Appropriate formulations are available for trees including the used of phased release N, slow release soft rock phosphate, sulphur and calcium plus trace elements.

The liquid sprays contain a mixture of naturally derived plant stimulants, mainly from seaweed sources, mixed with trace elements, amino acids and humic and fulvic acids. They are primarily used to boost root development, bud development, provide anti-stress activity and delay natural senescence.

The Fertiactyl Starter and is useful for new and establishing plantations. It can sprayed on trees before planting, used as a root dip or sprayed after planting in establishment year.

The Fertileader range is used for foliar applications to fresh growth in late spring and again in late summer.
